Bagan Lalang, Run, Shoes, Camera and Watermelon

I'm alive! After a long one month worth of hiatus, here I am, posting some updates. 5 of them actually. So let's get rolling:

Updates #1 Bagan Lalang
Over the weekend on the mid of April, my friends and I headed to Bagan Lalang or the Malaysian Gold Coast. No idea why it's even called Gold Coast to begin with but the trip was for the Energizer Night Run 2011 (will be cover in the next update), seafoods, and

Updates #2 Energizer Night Run 2011
This is by far the most unsatisfying run I've ever join. The organizers were badly organize, the event was messy, no signage of where to go what to do, the marshals were as confused as I am, no headlamp as promised and no goodies bag too. Worst of all, I officially become an illegal immigrant for the day as I lost my IC that day. Funny part is there are people shouting "Duracell, Duracell, Duracell" in an Energizer event. All and all, I do enjoy the run on the Sepang International Circuit and the main sponsor, Energizer agreed to refund our participation fees and also goodies bag for all runners. I guess it ended well. Thumbs up for Energizer for taking up responsibility.

Updates #3 Shoes
New shoes for me. Let the pictures do the talking.

Updates #4 Camera
Another camera into my list and this time is the Olympus 35 RC.

Updates #5 Watermelon
Finally, the last update for the day... Phew. Been a hot week last week and one of the best way to quench your thirst is with watermelon. Here's a guide on how to choose the right watermelon from your local fruit stall. *Note: I got all these info from various source on the internet. Followed them and I get a nice watermelon not the sweetest that I can get, but it's pretty decent. Here we go:

  -  Get one with a big creamy yellow spot on the fruit. This shows that the watermelon has been sitting on the ground for some time for it be be ripe enough and not one of those early plucked ones.
  -  Lift it up. Watermelon is made out of 92 percent water, it will be relatively heavy for its size and you would want a juicy one.
  -  A ripe watermelon will be in dark green color.
  -  Tap it a few times. It should give a good deep "thump" sound
  -  Avoid those with soft spots. These are the starting signs for it to turn bad.

Games and Gaming

Games and gaming. They are one of my fav free time activities apart from lazing around idly doing absolutely nothing but gazing into the blanks and let the mind wanders way off the radar. I do that sometimes although I know its being a waste of time and not productive at all.

Back to the topic, I'm currently playing "Star Ocean -The Last Hope- International" on my PS3. Yea, I know, it's an old game released on February 2010. Reaching on the 2nd quarter of the game, here's my view on it.

Story
The story starts with the earth being contaminated with radiation due to a world wide nuclear warfare. As a result, humans are exploring the space to look for a new planet to migrate to. You play as Edge Maverick, a guy who is part of the expedition in searching for a new home. And of course, during the expedition, things don't go as smoothly. Else, there won't be a game to play at. In your journey is some hiccups here and there, meet some friends, help some people and so on. Its an ok ok storyline, not a great one. Oh, and I need to mention one thing. There are scenes in the game that gives a lil hentai undertone for some unknown reason.

Gameplay
The battle system in Star Ocean The Last Hope is not the usual turn based system that normally found in JRPGs but a real time system where you control only one character, the leader in the battle of your choice while the rest are being AI. It's more engaging and fun this way rather than being turn based. And its no random encounters but you can see the mobs walking around in the map so you can choose to fight or just slip though them. In boss battles, while its not being hard, its no walk in the park either.

Graphics and Soundtrack
Hair physics is awesome! And boobs physics is overrated. :p The graphics looks nice and colorful but they're nothing to shout at. On the other hand, the soundtrack composed by Motoi Sakuraba is superb. One of my fav composer for games.

It's getting late now, so let me end my first ever long post with the photo of the week.

Pre-Monday blues

Weekend has come and pass. Tomorrow is a start of a new week again and I miss my weekend. Oh, Monday blues =,=

Anyway, miss my last week project 52 posting. Went out for portrait shooting with a couple of friends last week at this nice park near my neighborhood. The model here is Denise, a pretty and friendly person with big clear eyes. So, here's entry #3.

Project 52 / 1

Yesterday, I've just develop my 1st 3 roll of film since ages ago where digital photography still don't exists. And the result? Awesome!

Although there are some that are out of focus and over or under exposed, I really like the output of it. Am pretty happy that I invested on this old school Minolta SRT-101 SLR camera with a Vivitar 28mm F/2.5 lens. And here's a photo from the cam.

Minolta SRT-101 meet Fujifilm Superia 400

The only post processing done to the photo is to bring up the exposure due to being under originally. More to come in the future post.

And onto my project 52 entry, I'm always quite fond with photos of golden sunlight shining and lighting up the subject of the photo. Not sure why, but it gives me a feeling of magical aura due to the golden light, the shadows and the partly lit subject. And here's my entry for the week. Enjoy :)

My Project 52

What?
You might heard of Project 365 which is a project where you take a photo everyday for a year, which means a year collection of 365 photos. That's where the name Project 365 come from.

But, Project 52? Well, if you divide 365 by 7, you get 52 and some remaining. A photo a week project it is. Why not everyday instead? Being such a lazy bum, once per week would be much much much more feasible. :p

Why?
There's a couple of reason that I decide to start this project. One is to improve on my photo taking skills. Shooting oftenly and you'll get better at composing your shots, look at lightings differently and use them to create a better photo. People do says practice makes perfect, no? Also, squeezing your brain juice every time to get creative for every other shot.

And a document on what's going on for the week for one whole year could be interesting to look back after a year of photographs!

Let's start, shall we?
I announce this Project 52 commence with entry number 0, since is a photo I've taken sometime ago. XD
